Tamsen Thorpe, Ph.D. Dr. Tamsen Thorpe is a Psychologist and Director at Directions – A Center for Life Strategies in Morristown, NJ focusing on adults and couples. She was educated locally at Drew University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Psychology.
Dr. Thorpe earned her master's degree in Organizational Psychology at Stevens Institute of Technology. This was followed by a research career in New York City Corporations. She then earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The California School of Professional Psychology in 1997.
Health Psychology was her chosen emphasis of study. Internships were in a medical hospital with oncology patients and an Employee Assistance Program. Postdoctoral training at UCLA included a year long rotation in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic. Employment at UCLA was in the area of family/genetic research. Dr. Thorpe has further specialized training in the areas of couple’s counseling, infertility, sexuality, work place issues as well as stress reduction, parent coordination, family mediation and collaborative divorce.
Dr. Thorpe has conducted seminars at Honeywell, Pfizer, Cendant and Novartis on such topics as Stress Management, Emotional Intelligence and Relationships. She frequently is a guest lecturer at venues such as the New Jersey State Bar Association and Morris County Chamber of Commerce.

Komal Dutt, PhD. Dr. Komal Dutt received her Ph.D. from State University of New York at Albany. She has completed an American Psychological Association approved internship at University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center. She recently completed her post-doctoral training at Drew University Counseling Center. She has also worked at a community mental health center in upstate N.Y. She received a Masters in Organizational Behavior from University of Delhi, India. As a part of this program she worked as an intern in the H.R. department at a large corporation. Her experience in business, especially H.R., provides her with the insight into the opportunities and challenges facing professionals. She holds a permit to practice psychology in New Jersey (TP 093-021) and works under the supervision of Dr. Tamsen Thorpe.
She is skilled in treatment of depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, body-image, women’s, and career related issues. She also has experience and training in helping people with stress management, distress tolerance (using Dialectical Behavioral therapy skills), and dealing with shyness. Her counseling/psychotherapy is based primarily on tenets of Self-Psychology and Humanistic psychologies. Therefore, her goals are determined by the goals the clients see for themselves, and are often based on symptom management.
Dr. Komal Dutt can help people regulate emotions that upset them, manage their thinking if it has a role in their distress level, and develop skills that will help them towards greater emotional well being. Being a self-psychologist, she helps people towards self-enhancement as defined and experienced by them. Her personal interests are traveling, learning about different cultures, and spending time with her two children.
Janet Bloodgood, PhD. Dr. Janet Bloodgood graduated with honors from the University of South Florida earning an undergraduate degree in Psychology after working in the field of marketing for over a decade. She earned a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree specializing in Clinical Psychology from the Harold Abel School of Psychology (HASP) at Capella University (2006) in Minneapolis.
The emphasis of her studies included cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and applied behavior analysis with specialized training in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), forensics, addictions, autism spectrum disorders, parenting, and various psychological assessments.
Dr. Bloodgood has worked with youth and adults by providing individual, family, or couples counseling. She has experience working in various settings as well as consulting for corporations. She also offers support for professionals, leaders, supervisors, educators, and team members.
Janet Bloodgood, Ph.D. holds a permit to practice psychology in New Jersey under the supervision of Dr. Tamsen Thorpe.
